A well overdue final for ESL's 7th Major Series season, saw Power Gaming face familiar fellow finalists TCM-Gaming in what was set up to be a monumental match. In January, Power Gaming outperformed their fiercest rivals in Croatia's Gamersject LAN final, and have firmly held the title as the best team in the world since.
It was now TCM-Gaming's chance to reclaim the title they once had, though they were at a disadvantage as the retired Fredrik 'qLimAxzU' Idh was called back into action for the EMS VII final over their newest addition Robinson 'robyYE' Watson.
The grand final was streamed to over 2000 hopeful viewers, but that hope was short lived as TCM Gaming quickly lost control of the first map (mp_crash) due to Power Gaming's flawless tactics. The Czech and Dutch mix sealed the first map win relatively convincingly 13-8, with Jan 'paradox-' Duchon standing out as the star player of the half, lapping up an impressive 1 on 4 situation.
Many disappointed, though still hoping for an exciting second map, which was to be the oh-so-joyous, spectators dream, mp_citystreets! Early rounds exchanged, several time outs and not much happening early on, quickly changed when Power Gaming got in their stride on defense, solid as ever, cancelling out any strategy the Swedes threw at them. Impressive it was, and it certainly paid dividends.
TCM-Gaming were knocked for six, and had nothing in the tank. Power Gaming were simply the better team in the final, and fully deserved the first place finish they've achieved. I'm sure TCM-Gaming will be there again in the next final, only to go one better, bring on the summer is all I can say!
